Greater Cleveland Chapter One
Assistance Fund Guidelines, Policy & Forms

In awarding grants, the Review Committee will be guided by the following points
and grants will be administered as indicated.

1) The applicant must show real financial need.
2) The applicant indicates past membership and interest in Chapter One and/or AOSA.
3) The applicant indicates a commitment to a career in Schulwerk-based music education.
4) The applicant should represent the ideals and philosophy of the Schulwerk, AOSA and Chapter One in a positive desirable manner.
5) Consideration of the direct benefits to the professional growth of a potentially fine music educator and the implications for future contributions to the chapter and/or community.
6) If the applicant receives a grant it is understood that the course or project will be completed by December 31 for the year the grant was made. If the money cannot be used by that time the committee may grant an extension if a request is made in writing by September 15 of the year the grant was made.
7) If a grant is awarded, a follow-up report is required thirty (30) days after completion of the project. Grants will not be awarded to the same person more than once in three years.
8) Chapter expectations of the recipient include: regular attendance at chapter meetings, volunteer participation on a chapter committee, exhibition of potential to continue the practice of Orff philosophies.
9) If a grant has been denied, a person may apply again the following year.
10) All necessary forms MUST be typed, completed and returned to the Committee Chairperson no later than March 15. Applicants will be informed of committee action by April 30 of the same year.
11) Acceptable use of awards includes: partial or full payment of membership fees of Chapter One or AOSA, partial or full payment of local workshop fees, partial or full payment of Cleveland State University-Cleveland Chapter Orff Workshop Credit Course tuition or fees, partial or full payment of fees, books, or materials of a Teacher Training Orff Level Course in the Cleveland Chapter area, partial or full payment of National Conference fees or related expenses, if attending for the first time.
12) Awards made in violation of the rules governing the Chapter One Assistance Fund shall be reimbursed to the Fund by the person(s) making the improper award. Monies granted on the basis of misrepresentation of facts or not used for the purpose for which they were awarded shall be reimbursed to the Fund by the recipient.
